48 hours into our baby’s fight, Mina’s lung collapsed. She was quickly transferred onto an oscillator, placed on nitric oxide, and a fentanyl drip. We were informed again by the doctors to once again prepare for our baby to not survive this life saving effort. Mina was then diagnosed with pulmonary hypoplasia of the left lung and classified as a chronic NICU baby.

Masi was switched over to Continuous Positive Airway Pressure (CPAP) and was gaining healthy weight. We learned that we like the word ‘boring’ during our admission and our son was doing a great job at being just that, boring.
